Historic Cellar Door & Art Gallery

A fusion of heritage, architecture, wine and art
The Aboriginal Exhibitions Gallery is housed within the historic 1880s Seppelts Cellars building, now part of the Tuileries complex—a renowned boutique hotel, restaurant, and function centre located on Drummond Street in the heart of Rutherglen, Victoria.
Integrated with the Rutherglen Estates cellar door, the gallery occupies a beautifully restored warehouse space that blends old-world charm with modern industrial style. The space features exposed timber ceiling beams, redgum support pillars, original concrete flooring, and masonry walls. These heritage elements are paired with a matte black track system, and a sleek porcelain wine tasting bench.
Artisan Craftsmanship
At the heart of the space is the custom-designed wine tasting bar, handcrafted by Adam Williams of Wilko Cabinets, Buckland Valley. The bar’s surface is made from Dekton, a porcelain and stone composite that is both elegant and durable—ideal for wine tastings.
Renovations to the building were led by award-winning Master Builder Steve Graves of Bright Alpine Builders. His team enhanced the space with a central dividing wall featuring an internal sliding door system for flexible gallery configurations, stylish new entryways, and handcrafted arched Victorian Ash timber doors, which provide a beautiful finishing touch. These thoughtful design elements ensure the space can easily adapt for private functions, exhibition transitions, and special events.
