Emu Caller

$450.00

Year Circa 1950. Carving and incising on small naturally hollowed Eucalyptus log 59cm long, 7cm diameter

SKU: HS1021 Categories: ,

Description

Emu callers were used by striking a cupped palm over the end of the hollow log thereby creating a sound which mimics the call of an emu. They were used by Aboriginal people to attract the emus and thereby capture them. This finely carved and incised caller suggests its use by the emus decorating one side. The other side features snakes.
