Description

Gidja and all the other people were digging yams up near Springvale Station, this side of King’s Plains. Gidja was digging yams and putting the in his dilly-bag, he had one dilly-bag full and was busy filling the other. The other people with him said:

“Come on Gidja, we want to go, you have enough yams now”, but Gidja was always greedy and said “I want to fill this bag too”.

As he was collecting he saw a big yam string sticking up out of the ground.

“Ah, here is the biggest yam of all” he exclaimed and he dug along the string and pulled at the yam but it was not a yam at all, it was old Death adder and he bit Gidja on the hand. Gidja died and flew to the heavens to become the moon

The line running through Gidja’s body is the trail of the snake toxin as it runs through his body.
