Description

This magnificent coolamon has been hand adzed inside and out and the ends protected by the application of spinifex resin. The resin is a very durable adhesive and is obtained by burning spinifex grass. Small traces of the grass are left is the resin during the extraction process giving it a very natural appearance.

The size of the coolamon indicates it would have been used as a baby’s crib and the red ochre that has been applied to both sides is natural.
