Description

The Joonging soldiers is an alternate version of the creation of Black Mountain. The story goes that the Flying Fox men abducted three women and took them away to their camp. The men of the clan that the women belonged to followed them and waited till night for the Flying Foxes to go to sleep. They then built piles of wood under the areas they were hanging and lit them. The flying foxes all burnt to death and their ashes formed Black Mountain. The women were rescued so we have a happy ending.

You will note that John has represented Black Mountain as two hills and this is the case with one of the hills being considerably larger than the other.
