Description

Ceremonial spears such as these were used in dance ceremonies. Traces of ochre are still present on the spear barbs as well as resin on the shaft where feathers would have been affixed as decoration. Those collected as souvenirs often had their handles substantially shortened so that they could be easily packed for transport but this specimen is original.
